100th Day Of School!!!

HAPPY 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL!
Today we celebrated the 100th day of school!! We were greeted by Mrs. Conner and Mrs. Tallent dressed up as if they were 100 YEARS OLD!!! Man they looked funny!! They had gray/white hair, glasses, canes, wrinkle and even talked like they had NO teeth!  They were SO funny!

The Kindergarten teachers looking pretty old!

Even Mr. Mills was 100!

We soon started the day off by making 100 day hats that we could wear ALL DAY long!  Today we got to enjoy our "long specials" day in PE, Art, and Music!

Wearing our 100th day necklaces!

When we came back into the classroom, we did not know how much 100th day stuff we were getting ourselves into!  BOY did we do A LOT!! We joined on the carpet for calendar time and bundled our 10 groups of tens to move our straws to the 100th place value bin!

Soon after that we enjoyed several 100th day read aloud books that Mrs. Tallent read to us! Mrs. Tallent LOVES to read us books.  We talked about the beginning, middle and end of the stories as well as the main idea.  We even compared them on our Venn Diagram to make text to text connections!

We LOVE to sing!  We loved singing songs that revolved around the number 100!
"Counting Super Hero!"

"Climbing and Counting by 10's!"

For writing time, we made a self portrait of ourselves at 100 years old!  We then wrote all about being 100!

When we thought we had done TONS of 100 day activities, Mrs. Conner told us that we were only getting started!  She put out literacy and math centers that revolved around the 100th day and we had so much FUN completing them!

I can fill up a 100's chart!

I can draw 100 wishes!

I can build a structure with 100 cups!

 I can make a 100 book!

I can write 100 words around the room!

I can make patterns with 100 blocks!

I can draw a picture and write about me at 100 years old!

I can fill in the missing numbers on a 100's chart!

I can build a structure with 100 Legos!

While we were in centers, Mrs. Tallent called us over one at a time and asked us questions to help us fill out a survey about what it is like to be 100 years old!  This was exciting and some of our answers were VERY INTERESTING!  :)

We were SUPER creative when we were given the numbers "1" "0" "0" and told to make a picture out of them!!  We then were challenged to create a creative writing story about our picture!

At the very end of the day, we made the 100th day of school HEAVENLY HASH!  Mrs. Conner told us that this was just another phrase for chex mix but a very special chex mix! We took 10 different snacks, that parents were very NICE to donate to our classroom, and counted out 10 groups of 10 to make a 100 snack mix!!  It was DELICIOUS!!!  We also enjoyed a book called Emily's 100th Day of School on the smart board while we were enjoying our snack!

Right before we were about to go home and call it a day, Mrs. Tallent and Conner told us that the Woodhill Kindergarten classes were donated 100 brand NEW stuffed animals to take home as our very own!!  We were BEYOND excited!!

Star students for the "100th day of school" week!

We ALL agreed that this could have not been a better day!  We LOVE celebrating the 100th day of school and are excited about the count down to SUMMER!! :)

See you next time!
Love,
