Meet Mrs. Tallent

Meet Ringmaster Tallent 

Hello! My name is Mrs. Susan Tallent. I am the teacher assistant for Mrs. Conner and the Circus Crew.  I want to introduce and tell you a little about myself and my qualifications.

I have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  I graduated in May of 1993 and worked in banking for a number of years until I had my first child.  I then chose to stay at home and raise my children.  

I have 5 children.  My oldest is Matthew, who is a senior at Ashbrook.  He will be 18 years old in February.  Aaron is a sohomore at Ashbrook and is 16 years old.  Zachary is my middle child and is in 8th grade at Grier Middle school.  He is 14 years old.  My two youngest, Noah and Joe, attend Sherwood Elementary.  Noah is 10 and is in the 4th grade and Joe is 8 and in the 2nd grade.

I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 2 ½ years and we live with my five boys here in Gastonia.  I have a step-son,Garrett, who is 27 years old and lives in Charlotte.  He and his wife, Emma, have blessed us with our first grandson, Peter Michael.  He is 18 months old and the joy of our lives.  Being a grandmother is wonderful.  

I have been a teacher assistant for 4 years, all of which I have been blessed to spend here at Woodhill with Mrs. Conner.  Before becoming a TA, I worked as a substitute teacher and did remedial tutoring in math at York Chester Middle.  I have a love for children and education and I strive everyday to instill the love of learning into each child that crosses my path.  I truly love the children in our Circus Crew and strive to show them love and kindness as they begin there educational journey.  I hope that each of them “reach for the stars” in their future because nothing is impossible through hard work and determination and a little dreaming about their goals.
